Existence of God: Swami Vivekananda was a follower and proponent of Vedanta which mentions one God — omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. On 19 September 1893 Swami Vivekananda delivered a lecture at the Parliament of the World's Religions, Chicago, where he talked about nature of God. He preached— "He is everywhere, the pure and formless One, the Almighty and the All-merciful. "Thou art our father, Thou art our mother, Thou art our beloved friend, Thou art the source of all strength; give us strength. Thou art He that beareth the burdens of the universe; help me bear the little burden of this life." Thus sang the Rishis of the Vedas. And how to worship Him? Through love. "He is to be worshipped as the one beloved, dearer than everything in this and the next life."

Swami Vivekananda on Bhagavad Gita "From that ideal lover we come down to the lower stratum of Lord Shri Krishna , the preacher of the Gita . Than the Gita no better commentary on the Vedas has been written or can be written. The essence of the  Shrutis ,  or of the Upanishads, is hard to be understood, seeing that there are so many commentators, each one trying to interpret in his own way. Then the Lord himself comes, He who is the inspirer of the  Shrutis ,  to show us the meaning of them, as the preacher of the Gita, and today India wants nothing better, the world wants nothing better that that method of interpretation.  It is a wonder that subsequent interpreters of the scriptures, even commenting upon the Gita, many times could not catch the meaning, many times could not catch the drift.
